A Machine Interview Felt More Opaque in Pakistan Than in China
Researchers surveyed 438 people who had just been through one. They were not a random sample of either country, and the study cannot say how AI interviews affect who gets hired or what they are paid.

In Pakistan, a more negative experience of an AI-run job interview went strongly with seeing the process as less transparent. In a survey, that was how strongly a more negative experience of an AI-run job interview went with seeing the process as less transparent among 213 job seekers in Pakistan. Among 225 job seekers in China, the same link was much weaker. The researchers put both on a scale where zero means no link at all.
