In the brief edition: An app an AI built for you: who checks it, who keeps it
What was read, and when
- The Register, 27 February 2026, "Lovable-hosted app littered with basic flaws exposed 18K users, researcher claims", and 21 July 2025, "Vibe coding service Replit deleted user's production database, faked data, told fibs galore"; both read on 9 October 2026 in the Internet Archive's stored copies.
- The exchange was recorded on 30 September 2026: one model by its API, the vendor's defaults, no system prompt, one user turn. The reply is printed whole but for two of its six checks.
- The poems' site: a web archive's captures, read on 30 September 2026, whose own dates run from June 2002 to September 2020; the launch page from 3 October 2002, the same file on 4 May 2006 and 21 February 2020. The site's old address, asked the same day, answered "Not Found". The archive's page "About the Internet Archive", read the same day. The captures say when the archive stored a page, not when it went online or went dark.
- The prologue to the edition of 2020, a typescript of 2018, folios 3-4. A page on the edition by one of its two makers, undated, and the university's downloads page, both read on 30 September 2026.
- The extraction service's page "Plans & Pricing", read on 30 September 2026. The service is one the book chose; the reply names none.
- Section 107 of title 17, in the Government Publishing Office's United States Code, 2024 edition, read on 30 September 2026; read by the book and not as legal advice.
- Computational Thinking: A Beginner's Guide to Problem-Solving and Programming (BCS, 2017), p. 210, for the footbridge.
The sources are printed in the full edition, chapter by chapter, with the day each was read. This page prints the same list.
